My Blog - Mum's Gone To...
Hi. My name is Trish Burgess and my blog was born after I decided to type up my travel diaries. They began with 'Mum's Gone to Iceland' in 2007 and since then we've had family jaunts from Canada to Cyprus, Barcelona to Berlin, London to Lake Garda.

My background and family
Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, I read Geography at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, although I have a poor sense of direction and my map-reading skills are woeful. I now live in South Lincolnshire with my GP husband, Dougie. Our son, Rory, was born in 1996 and is now at university.

Working with others
I am the editor of the monthly travel round-ups for BritMums, the UK's biggest parenting bloggers network, and won the travel category at the Brilliance in Blogging Awards in 2012. I have spoken twice on the travel panel at the annual BritMums conference: in 2014 with Simon Calder, travel editor of The Independent.

Family Travel Perspective
I am a founder member of the Family Travel Perspective, a group created in association with BritMums and Travel Perspective, the social and digital editorial consultancy. We are a group with knowledge of travel journalism in print, digital and social media sharing practical, genuine travel advice for families with children of all ages. We serve as a powerful think tank, content provider and research resource for travel destinations and brands.
